1:1. The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. 1:1. Perkataan yang dinyatakan kepada Amos, salah seorang peternak domba dari Tekoa, tentang Israel pada zaman Uzia, raja Yehuda, dan dalam zaman Yerobeam, anak Yoas, raja Israel, dua tahun sebelum gempa bumi.
1:2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither. 1:2 Berkatalah ia: "TUHAN mengaum dari Sion dan dari Yerusalem Ia memperdengarkan suara-Nya; keringlah padang-padang penggembalaan dan layulah puncak gunung Karmel."
1:3. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: 1:3. Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Karena tiga perbuatan jahat Damsyik, bahkan empat, Aku tidak akan menarik kembali keputusan-Ku: Oleh karena mereka telah mengirik Gilead dengan eretan pengirik dari besi,
1:4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. 1:4 Aku akan melepas api ke dalam istana Hazael, sehingga puri Benhadad dimakan habis;
1:5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD. 1:5 Aku akan mematahkan palang pintu Damsyik dan melenyapkan penduduk dari Bikeat-Awen serta pemegang tongkat kerajaan dari Bet-Eden; dan rakyat Aram harus pergi sebagai orang buangan ke Kir," firman TUHAN.
1:6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver [them] up to Edom: 1:6 Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Karena tiga perbuatan jahat Gaza, bahkan empat, Aku tidak akan menarik kembali keputusan-Ku: Oleh karena mereka telah mengangkut ke dalam pembuangan suatu bangsa seluruhnya, untuk diserahkan kepada Edom,
1:7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: 1:7 Aku akan melepas api ke dalam tembok Gaza, sehingga purinya dimakan habis;
1:8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD. 1:8 Aku akan melenyapkan penduduk dari Asdod dan pemegang tongkat kerajaan dari Askelon; Aku akan mengacungkan tangan-Ku melawan Ekron, sehingga binasalah sisa-sisa orang Filistin," firman Tuhan ALLAH.
1:9 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: 1:9 Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Karena tiga perbuatan jahat Tirus, bahkan empat, Aku tidak akan menarik kembali keputusan-Ku: Oleh karena mereka telah menyerahkan tertawan suatu bangsa seluruhnya kepada Edom dan tidak mengingat perjanjian persaudaraan,
1:10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. 1:10 Aku akan melepas api ke dalam tembok Tirus, sehingga purinya dimakan habis."
1:11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever: 1:11 Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Karena tiga perbuatan jahat Edom, bahkan empat, Aku tidak akan menarik kembali keputusan-Ku: Oleh karena ia mengejar saudaranya dengan pedang dan mengekang belas kasihannya, memendamkan amarahnya untuk selamanya dan menyimpan gemasnya untuk seterusnya,
1:12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. 1:12 Aku akan melepas api ke dalam Teman, sehingga puri Bozra dimakan habis."
1:13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: 1:13 Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Karena tiga perbuatan jahat bani Amon, bahkan empat, Aku tidak akan menarik kembali keputusan-Ku: Oleh karena mereka membelah perut perempuan-perempuan hamil di Gilead dengan maksud meluaskan daerah mereka sendiri,
1:14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind: 1:14 Aku akan menyalakan api di dalam tembok Raba, sehingga purinya dimakan habis, diiringi sorak-sorai pada waktu pertempuran, diiringi angin badai pada waktu puting beliung;
1:15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD. 1:15 dan raja mereka harus pergi sebagai orang buangan, ia bersama-sama dengan pembesar-pembesarnya," firman TUHAN.
